This study analyses the issue of energy security and natural gas in the Southern Gas Corridor, and its effects on the relationship between the European Union EU and Turkey. The increasing consumption of natural gas in the world as an energy source has rendered it a greater strategic importance in the world.
This study argues that the energy dependency among the countries not only affects the economic decisions, but also the political decisions.
Theoretical Framework: Interdependence Theory 2. The term energy security is used in a military context as well as in exclusive connection with oil and gas resources. Today there is no longer a general concept of energy security. For some countries, energy security means depending on imports, and for others, exporting energy resources. On the other hand, for a transit state, energy security means a source of income for industry and investment.
In such cases energy security means that a risk is arising due to domestic or regional political instability. The definition of interdependence is one of mutual dependence.
Here, connectedness simply refers to the amount and frequency of interaction between the parties.
