Those few ruling members have enough power to create policies that benefit them to the exclusion of the rest of society. They maintain their power through their relationships with each other. A plutocracy is a subset of an oligarchy. In a plutocracy, the leaders are rich. The leaders in an oligarchy don't have to be rich, even though they usually are. For example, a high school ruled by a popular clique is an oligarchy. A plutocracy is always an oligarchy, but there could be some oligarchies that aren't plutocracies.
The relationships between interest groups, political parties, and elections have always been dynamic, but in recent years change has accelerated in ways that have favored some interests over others. This chapter considers these developments as the result of a variety of factors, the most critical of which are the growth of polarization, a new legal landscape for campaign finance, and new organizational forms. The chapter goes on to suggest, that as bipartisanship has ebbed, elections have become winner-take-all affairs and interest groups are pushed to choose sides. The chapter further suggests that the rise of super PACs is especially notable as wealthy individuals have become increasingly important, single sources of campaign money, supplanting in part traditional interest groups, especially conventional PACs. It concludes that even as sums spent by super PACs and other interest groups have skyrocketed, the impact of their direct spending on persuading voters remains uncertain.
When the economy is strong, everyone dreams of low interest rates, because this makes it less expensive to borrow money. The Federal Reserve sets low interest-rate targets in its effort to spur the economy out of recession. Lower rates encourage businesses and consumers to borrow and buy things. Loans put money into circulation and raise the money supply, which supports an economic recovery — to a point. The effects of low interest rates can also be a damper on the economy and your business. When people can't earn attractive interest income on their money in savings accounts and certificates of deposit, they either use their money to pay down debt or invest in goods, services or assets like houses and stocks. This means banks lose deposits.
Also referred to as advocacy groups, lobby groups, pressure groups, campaign groups or special interest groups, there is a lot of questions surrounding interest groups. Generally, they use different forms of advocacy, where they could influence the public opinion or policies and play a significant role in developing both political and social systems. Also, they diverge in influences, motives and sizes, where some of them come with wide-ranging terms in their social purposes, while others usually focus on and always respond to the issues that are experienced by many people. Because of the helpful benefits that they provide not only to a certain region, but also to the people who are living there, the presence of interest groups is definitely a great idea. Most of the time, these groups are looking for several purposes to perform actions from shared political, commercial, religious and moral positions, using various methodologies in order to make their plans a success, such as having a very successful policy briefing, poll, media campaign, research, lobbying, research and even a publicity stunt. They manage to achieve this with the support of their political influences, powerful businesses and other resources available to them. While there are real benefits from interest groups, there are also drawbacks that come with them.

If there is one thing that we have learned at Calvert in over one hundred years of providing homeschool curriculum and education services, it is that homeschooling is not for everyone. Every educational system offers great opportunities for children to learn new information and skills, as well as harness their own unique qualities and interests. Homeschooling is no different than public school, private school, charter school, unschooling, and other models in that there are pros and cons. Now it is time to have a very frank conversation about the pros and cons of homeschooling based on feedback from our Calvert parents and others. As you probably know, when you decide to homeschool, you will take on the duties and responsibilities of both a teacher and administrator.
